Deira is one of the oldest districts of Dubai. Here you can really feel the vibe of the East. This district has several large bazaars with a multitude of tiny stalls and shops where you can find products from all Asian countries. There is a natural seawater inlet, Dubai Creek, with an operating port for ships. An airport is located in the south side of the district. Baniyas Square takes up the center of Deira and is occupied by a conglomeration of offices, cafes, hotels, and restaurants.
From the residence standpoint, Deira is one of the most financially affordable districts of Dubai. Residential real estate here is mostly represented with spacious apartments in high-rise apartment complexes.
As for the public transportation in the district, you can ride the subway or wait for a bus. You can also hop in one of the water buses that cruise along the Dubai Creek. Car owners will enjoy readily available ample parking lots.
Deira is a great place for shopping. Along with the large trading centers such as Al Ghurair City and Deira City Centre, you can find small shops and famous bazaars such as the Gold Souk, Spice Souk, and Perfume Souk.
